Electronic Medical Record (EMR) - Point-of-Care

Hôpitel has developed a cost effective approach to next-generation information processing technologies through a specifically designed Point of Care software application via our Meditel Healthcare Network System that is compatible with Citrix® and many other EMR hospital systems. This Point of Care system delivered on the hospital coaxial Media Station distribution network provides hospital personnel access to clinical data through a variety of graphical user interfaces displaying patient Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) on the patient Media Station at bedside which improves the quality and safety of patient care allowing medical care providers and patients to make safer, faster and better treatment decisions which can also help in reducing the possibility of medical errors at the bedside.

The MeditelPoint-of-Care technology helps healthcare organizations integrate clinical data from multiple sources and allows that information to be easily viewed, shared and analyzed all at the convenience of bedside as a means to improve patient relationships and healthcare through more access to critical information. The data in the EMR can also assist medical personnel in empowering patients to get involved and engaged in their own healthcare by having the ability to view their EMR with a medical professional directly from their hospital bed

Having an the EMR available at bedside on the patient Media Station for medical staff to access in emergency situations can also be advantageous in providing emergency care to patients where the hospital has digitized the patient's medical records. Since the EMR can be a mission critical application when in use in a medical emergency situation, Hôpitel developed an automated diagnostic application that monitors, detects and reports anomalies or failures that may occur on the Media Station or the distribution network to maximize the system performance.
 
Bed Management - Status

The bed management - status application keeps track of whether housekeeping has completed preparing a bed to receive a patient. The application works by providing housekeeping staff an application that uses the in-room Media Station to provide a “bed status” menu. The housekeeping staffs uses a smart card or an IR remote specific to them to indicate the current state of the room – cleaning started, cleaning finished, needs isolation cleanup or maintenance etc. This information is then communicated to bed management so that they can manage bed availability in real time, making the whole process more efficient. Phone calls to nursing floors and housekeeping to determine bed status are eliminated.
